Family Outing to Holiday World!

A fun couple of days was had by all of the family as we headed south to Holiday World and Splashin' Safari w/ the Massey gang, Grandma & Papa and Aunt Amy, Uncle Jim, Abby and Shelby! Lauren loved every kiddie ride there and tried to tell us that she was sure she could ride that big roller coaster soon, but it would probably make her "busy" (instead of dizzy!)! : ) We quickly found out that she is going to be a nut for amusement parks! Allison also enjoyed the park, especially w/ her cousins. She loved driving the cars (she's convinced it won't be that long until she has her own car to drive....look out!) and was crazy enough to ride the log ride 3 times in a row! Katelyn had a good time just watching all of the action and got to take in her first "ride" on the kiddie train. Mommy and Daddy took advantage of Grandma and Papa being there and got to sneak in a few roller coaster rides......seems like forever since we've had fun doing that! We all had a great time but were very tired on the way home after two days of nonstop action........it's good to be home....of course, the Massey house is it's own "form" of an amusement park too....without the free drinks and sunscreen! : )

4th of July and other summer fun!

Happy 4th of July! Hope you and your families enjoyed celebrating our wonderful nation. We were a bit soggy but still had fun spending the weekend at the lake house. We were able to get to the beach as well as take in some great fireworks. We also had Katelyn's baby dedication at our church this weekend. Most of our family were able to attend the service and afterwards, we met for lunch at Gray Bros. restaurant (yum!) and then headed to our cousin's house for some fun swimming in their pool. Katie Grace was able to try out her first real "swimming" and loved it! Of course, Allie and Lauren stayed in the pool the entire time and even asked us if they could just eat their dinner in there as well! Here a few pics from our weekend.....

Allie has graduated from 2nd grade! : ) Way to go girl!!!

Another end to the school year for our oldest...Allison Renee is now ready for 3rd grade! Doesn't seem possible! We enjoyed attending her awards program last week and were so proud of her accomplishments this year. She received two big awards. She was one of just a few students to receive a citizenship award for having an A for the entire year in both classroom and school-wide citizenship! I think we would rather have her get that one than any other. Then, she received a reading award for the entire year as well. She has worked so hard this year and we just couldn't be prouder of her! Lauren enjoyed attending the program and shouting out applause at her big sister....think she might have embarrassed her big sis just a bit! ; ) Katelyn did great just hanging out and watching everyone.

Now on for summer vacation....sleeping late and having lots of days of jammies, movies, play times at the park and just enjoying relaxing together....bring it on! : )

Memorial Day Weekend at the Lake!

We spent this past weekend at Grandma & Papa's lake house to kick start the summer! We always have lots of fun down there. This year, we decided to start bringing the kids bikes since Allison now rides with the big kids. And, Katelyn enjoyed getting started in on our walks down to the beach. Some fishing was done and Lauren enjoyed seeing a big "mama" fish with her babies right off of the dock by the boat. Of course, a weekend at the lake cannot be complete without a slumber party w/ the cousins! : ) And, hamburgers on the grill made by Papa! We ended the weekend with a trip to the Outlet mall....aaahhh....life is good! : )

Summer Haircuts for the Massey girls!

Today was haircut day at the Massey house! We decided to go a bit shorter for all of the girls in the family to get ready for summer weather (we're hoping maybe that brings on the sunshine and warmer temps around here quicker!). Allison wasn't too sure about getting hers cut shorter right now since the idea in 2nd grade right now is that short hair means you look like a boy! But, after she got it done, she decided she liked it....especially when Mommy told her that she wouldn't have to worry about putting a barette in it every day for school and that she could easily do her own hair now! : ) Lauren just liked getting hers cut again so she could eat as many suckers as possible during the haircut! Of course, Mama got a good trim as well but I'll just save the pics for the younger girls of the family! ; ) Katelyn was the only one w/out a haircut today as she is still working on growing some in right now!

What's new at the Massey house....

Haven't blogged in awhile. Everything is good here, just busy as usual! Here are just a few pics of life around the Massey house lately. We've been enjoying the sunshine and spring weather finally and the girls have been spending most of their time outside. Daddy and Allie spent one weekend afternoon "exploring" our woods beside our house. Jason has been trying to clear out some of the brush in there and create some paths for the kids to hike along. That day, it was kind of rainy and cold, so Lauren, Katelyn and I stayed inside and in one of the pics you can see that Lauren ended up taking a snooze on one of our steps going down to our basement!

Allie got a new "big" bike for Christmas so she has been riding it nonstop lately. And, Lauren is now riding one of Allie's old bikes (1st children get the new ones, 2nd and 3rd kids get the hand-me-down!) and having lots of fun with it...this is the first year that she's been able to reach the peddles! Katelyn is now smiling and trying to talk (imagine that in our family!) and is so dog-gone cute (I'm not biased at all!). Daddy has been busy with his work lately and enjoying the success of a few more "sales"...yeah! We are so very proud of him. He is also having fun getting out of his basement office during his lunch hour to hit a few golf balls in the backyard. Lauren usually joins in on the fun with him! Mommy is busy finishing up the MOPS year and adding another client to her bookkeeping business. It's a daily challenge to juggle the parenthood thing with the work load but God is teaching me to be patient and reminding me to put my kiddos (and hubby!) first and foremost before the job! Allison is enjoying spending time on Mommy's laptop playing alot of games from her computer lab at school and she is looking forward to the end of the school year, which won't be long now. And, I think we are all anxiously awaiting the first weekend trip to Grandma and Papa's lake house! That covers things here for awhile....take care and enjoy the fresh air!

A few days away!

Well, it's spring break time again so we are currently enjoying a few days away to relax. Actually, the Massey girls are enjoying some time off while Daddy is busy working! : ) We joined him for a conference in Ohio that he is attending for his job. Not exactly the sunny southern location that we were hoping for but we'll take the room service for food, the maid service for clean-up and the indoor pool to relax by any day! ; ) We have enjoyed some time shopping, cuddling up at night to watch a movie (Alvin & the Chipmunks, obviously chosen by the girls but also enjoyed by Mom and Dad!), and lots of playing games in the hotel room. Allison and Lauren are becoming Dominos pros and Allie plays on the expert level of UNO! Katelyn is enjoying hanging out w/ her sisters and is doing great on her first "vacation"! We are hoping to head home thru Cincinnati tomorrow night to take in their Childrens Museum before heading home. Nothing better than a few days away as a family to enjoy each other without all of the "normal" distractions of life!
