Fun day at the park!

I surprised the younger two and had an impromptu picnic lunch at the park followed by ice cream cones at the ice cream shop! You would have thought that I told them they won a million dollars (or a million toys!)....they had a ball! : ) It is still hot here so the sun was beating down on us but there was an nice breeze so it was a great day to eat outside and enjoy the playground. By the time we got home, Katelyn was sound asleep and Lauren was ready to chill out for awhile!

Raspberry picking with Katelyn! : )

Since the older 2 girlies are at school during the week now, I've been trying to find some fun things to do with just Mama and Katelyn. Just so happens that we were invited by some other mommy friends w/ their kiddos to head out to an orchard here in Mooresville for some raspberry picking today. It was a gorgeous and cooler morning so it was perfect for it! I think Katie enjoyed carrying around the bucket just as much as putting the berries in it.....we had a great time and enjoyed being outside and having some fun with good friends at the same time!

More birthday fun for Lauren....at the lake!

We finally finished up the partying for Lauren's birthday by hosting a family birthday party at Grandma and Grandpa's lake house. It was a bit of a cloudy day for the party but turned out to still be alot of fun.....and the sun eventually snuck out for us to get in some swimming in the cove and a round of tubing! : ) She wanted a "beach/lake" theme for this party so Mama tried her hand at making a lake/beach cake, complete with fish, palm trees and a mermaid!

All in all, another great time with family, food and fun! : )

Lauren's 6th birthday!

Well, we are still celebrating Lauren's 6th birthday....think she takes after her mama and is trying to stretch this birthday out for as long as she can! ; ) She was excited when she went to bed last night to know that when she woke up she would be 6 but then she said..."Mommy & Daddy, does that mean I'm gonna be an old lady when I wake up??!!" ; ) She celebrated her birthday at school with Mama and her little sister bringing in cupcakes w/ sprinkles and it was "RED" day at school today so she was also excited to be decked out in all red for that! Tonight, she asked for barbecue chicken, brocolli and homemade mac & cheese for her birthday dinner....those are all her favorite foods right now. And instead of birthday cake (which we have leftover from her party on Sat!), she wanted strawberries dipped in chocolate for dessert....yummy! We gave her our presents from us and her sisters tonight....she was so excited, she got the "pillow pet" that she wanted (a big pink, very fluffy bunny!), 1000 stickers that she can decorate herself, a Barbie cash register and jewelry to go with it, and her own pink MP3 player! Whew, what more could a girl want??!!! I think she had a pretty good birthday and she's got one more party at Grandma and Papa's this weekend....man, she is doing up this birthday thing pretty well!

Lauren's "Girlie Friends" Birthday Party!

Lauren turns 6 on Monday (where does the time go??!!!) so she celebrated with her first "Friends" party today. She wanted a Hello Kitty party with 5 girlie friends and we decided since it was so hot outside, we would have a water/swim party along with it. Mama tried her best to make a Hello Kitty cake...didn't turn out too bad. And it was strawberry filling with strawberry icing so it tasted even better than it looked! : ) She had Hello Kitty goodie bags for her friends and they spent the afternoon eating cheese pizza and strawberries (her favorite foods right now!) and playing on the water slide, in the pool or with the water balloons. She told me after her friends had gone home that this "was the best party ever, it was awesome Mommy!"....awww, makes it totally worth it! : )
