More winter and Katelyn's surgery....

Greetings! It's been awhile since I've been on here and just realized that I haven't blogged since the new year began....just a bit behind! : ) We've had a very snowy winter around here so far...the kiddos have enjoyed lots of sledding and outside fun but I think we are ALL getting tired of it and ready for spring weather already! Think it will have to wait a bit longer!

We have been busy with a couple of new activities this year.....Lauren started ballet and tap dancing lessons recently....she loves it and looks so cute practicing all of her new dance moves. Allison began acoustic guitar lessons as well. She has been wanting to do this and since Papa Joe (Jason's dad) has played the guitar since he was a teenager and decided to buy her a "real" guitar last year, we decided it was time for her to learn how to play as well! She is doing really well so far, practicing on her own and her teacher has commented how he can tell she's taking her time and catching on quickly.....she comments that she hopes she is the next "Taylor Swift" soon! : )

Two weeks ago, Katelyn had her outpatient surgery to remove the small growth/tumor on her right cheek. This has been something that has been on our calendar since the fall. We tried to have it removed via a freezing method in the pediatric dermatologist office last summer twice but it didn't work. So we took her to a pediatric plastic surgeon who discovered it was a type of tumor and he would need to remove it via excision/surgery. She had to be put under since it was on her face so she ended up having surgery on 1/13 up on the northside of Indy. Mom and Dad (and her 2 big sisters!) were a bit nervous about it but God had just the right doctor and team to take care of her and she did great. I took a couple of before and after pictures and wanted to post them here but they are on my new phone and I'm still trying to figure out how to download them off of that thing! : ) We are praising God as we found out recently that the pathology report came back all clear for any cancer so we are relieved to have this done and behind us! She has a few stitches remaining but the dr. is very hopeful that there will be no scarring as she grows up. We go back to for a follow-up visit in a couple of weeks and then we are done! Yeah! : )

Speaking of Katelyn, we are getting ready to celebrate her 3rd birthday this weekend.....can not believe how fast time goes! She is our baby so I'm a bit sad that she's growing up so quickly but also enjoying watching her learn and grow every day.....we are so very blessed!
